Africoders
Owned community platform—Laravel 13 and Expo—connecting African builders through Learn, Build, Grow pathways.
Role: Owned product — designed, engineered, and operated by Africoders Network Limited
Problem
African builders need more than courses or job boards. They need a place to learn useful skills, build visible projects, grow professional relationships, and connect learning to real opportunities—without the product fragmenting across disconnected tools.
Context
Africoders is the builder community and professional network of the Africoders ecosystem. Africoders Works is the commercial delivery arm; africoders.com is the community platform where builders develop skills, projects, relationships, and credibility.

Capabilities
Community platform product strategy, web engineering, mobile engineering with Expo, moderation and operations tooling, notifications, search and discovery surfaces, and production support for an owned ecosystem product.
Technical approach
Laravel 13 powers the web application and APIs. The mobile experience is delivered with Expo/React Native so iOS and Android share product logic with the platform. Delivery emphasises maintainable domain models, role-aware access, and operational tools that keep a living community manageable.
Challenges
Balancing community growth features with moderation and trust; keeping web and mobile experiences aligned; and operating an owned product where product decisions, engineering, and support sit inside the same organisation.
Process
Work proceeds as continuous product delivery: discovery for major pathways, incremental releases, operational feedback from community use, and ongoing hardening rather than a single launch-and-leave project.
Outcome
Africoders operates as a living community and career ecosystem—connecting learning, building, proof of work, relationships, and opportunities under one product surface owned by Africoders Network Limited.
Interface
Product interface
Captured from the live product surface. Client brands remain attributed carefully.
